Have your stretch marks made you say goodbye to your bikini forever? Don’t despair, a clinical study has been conducted proving that sublative rejuvenation is an effective treatment option for those troublesome lines. Up to 90% of women get stretch marks (also known as striae), mainly during pregnancy or puberty and they can have a serious impact on confidence and self-esteem.
In this article, we discuss the clinical study - "Striae Improvement with a Novel Approach by Sublative Rejuvenation: A Study with Objective Measurement" by Maurice A. Adatto, M.D. and Ruthie Amir, M.D. - that was performed using sublative skin rejuvenation and the positive results from this new technology.
Objective and Evaluation
The objective of the study was to measure the effectiveness of the new Sublative (ablative fractionated bi-polar radio frequency) technology on both the depth and width of striae. The patients in the study showed a mix of striae albae (white stretch marks) and striae rubrae (pink/ purple stretch marks), ranging from light to severe.
The patients were given up to 6 monthly treatments where their stretch marks were most prominent – the abdomen, buttocks, thighs and chest. No anaesthesia was given in order to measure the level of comfort during treatment.
The effectiveness of treatment was measured by the study investigator using the Global Aesthetic Index (GAI) scale, 3D imaging and patients were asked to perform a self-evaluation which was used along with the clinical data. Any adverse effects were to be recorded for the safety assessment.
The results were extremely positive with all stretch marks showing improvement.
“Following 3 treatments, almost 75% of the striae were improved. Improvement increased gradually over time and at 6 weeks follow up all striae demonstrated improvement, while half had high improvement. No adverse effects were observed.
Improvement was seen in depth and width of striae as well as general roughness of skin. Swelling was observed 1-2 days post treatment and patients applied an emulsion containing 0.67% of trolamine biogaran, for comfort, twice a day.”
Sublative Technology Removing Stretch Marks
Sublative technology is neither laser nor light based. Instead, this unique technology uses fractionated bi-polar radio frequency (RF) directed to the skin in the form of a matrix. This fractional delivery of RF energy initiates a strong wound healing response in the dermal layer while also minimising the damage to the epidermis. The treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production at the site of the stretch mark.
In the clinical study,
“a noticeable and measurable improvement in the depth and width of striae as well as in the colour was observed in all patients after a single treatment, and improved with more treatments.”
So if you thought that you had to live with stretch marks, you don’t, there is safe and effective technology with proven results.
